Masu(升), a square wooden box, was originally used to measure rice in Japan during the ancient time.?
Masu is rarely seen in its original purpose as electric rice cookers gained their own popularity. However, it is still a symbol of Japan in many ways because of its special design and handcraft nature.?
There are two sizes of spice containers to fit different needs on your dining table.?
The container is?made by Hinoki, a cypress that is native to Japan. The whole piece has a urethane coating. Inside the container, the coating is in vermilion to?enhance?the spice to be more tasteful.?
As the whole piece is handmade in Japan, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
