Takaoka, famed for its copperware and lacquerware traditions, owes its legacy to Lord Toshinaga Maeda, who commissioned the craft for daily use during the early Edo period. Amano Shikki continues this legacy, specializing in high-end lacquerware that reflects the elegance and precision of Japan’s artisanal heritage.

At the heart of Amano Shikki's collection lies the art of aogai-nuri(青貝塗), a technique that brings to life intricate motifs of landscapes, flowers, and birds through the delicate inlay of mother-of-pearl, known as raden(螺鈿). Each piece, from lacquered trays to decorative boxes, showcases the luminous beauty of abalone shells meticulously sliced to just 0.1mm and set against the deep, polished black of lacquer—a process requiring unparalleled precision and skill.

With the introduction of the groundbreaking Raden Glassware series in 2009, Amano Shikki redefined the drinking experience.
